Cindy Walker passed away this spring, she has been a song writer in Nashville for over 50 years she has royalty rights on the songs she wrote and she left those royalties to the Country Music Hall of Fame to keep the museum going. COUNTY MUSIC HALL OF FAME Nashville, TN

The ole radio is the one Alan Jaclson's dad won and Alan wrote his first hit song about that ole radio..... stories are told in every case with ever item. It would take you a week if you read everything. We had a great time seeing all the history in the Country Music Hall of Fame. Three walls of gold and platinum records beautiful

A very young Minnie Pearl and Roy Clark, don't know who the one on the left is maybe Roy Acuff????

Porter Wagner and Marty Robbins fancy show clothes, boots to match with all of them...

Roy Acuff's own flour????? cute flour sack, don't think it would have made a very pretty dress though....

Wonderful players, records and instruments

Porter Wagner and Dolly Pardon Photo at Studio B along with so many more, this one I thought was really neat...

We left camp at 7 am and didn't get home till 11:30 that night, we had a Great time in Nashville, Tennessee........

Historic RCA STUDIO B- Nashville, Tennessee

This is the room and the mike that has been used for the recordings. The Studio B tour was an add on to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum... we didn't know about it and could have missed it and it was a fanstastic tour. We hear records of the hits, pictures of them were hanging on the entry hall. Where by the way Faith Hill was a receptionist for awhile...... before the days of fame... Elvis Presley at his greatest.......
Marty Stuart was cutting a tape, but as he was hosting the Opry on Saturday night the studio room where they cut tapes was empty and we got to go in and see all the stuff. COOL

Studio B is the only recording studio tour in Nashville, located on Music Row. It tells of an era gone by, when music told the story of life, love, heartache and happiness. That is when a song could stop you in your tracks, and to this day, you remember where you were when you first heard it. Back when music shaped our lives and defined our country. We experienced the magic, the stories and the music at Studio B in Nashville.
Greats like the Everly Brothers "All I hve to do is Dream", Roy Orbison "Only the Lonely", Dolly Parton "Jolene", Elvis Presley "It's now or never", Charley Pride "Kiss an Angel Good Morning", and the list goes on and on. Studio B has produced more than 1,000 hits.

Davy Crockett State Park

Today we drove down the Natchez Trace Trail we were headed to Mississippi but we didn't make it, spent to much time in and around the Davy Crockett State Park.
I loved the covered bridge, will have to paint this one....

When we went through the covered Bridge I thought we would be coming back the way we went, well we didn't so Manuel had to turn around and go back there again so I could get some pictures. Probably why we didn't make it to Mississippi, ha ha....

Wild Turkeys, every where, when we went to Nashville the other day we left camp about 7 am and the wild turkeys were out by the dozens. We travel the Natchez Trace Trail to Nashville that day also. Will enclose pictures on our next trip of the Trail..

General Jackson Showboat Ride, Nashville, TN

This beautiful flowers and the butterfly was planted in beds at the entrance of the Showboat area. The area was beautiful and well manintained.
August 25, tomorrow we will celebrate our 42nd Anniversary..... getting old...........

We stood out on the deck for about 30 minutes before they called us into the dinning room for the luncheon.... fantastic food & service. Then we were able to return to the deck for an hour or so then the entertainment started and we were called back into the Victorian Theater to watch the The fiddle man Tim Watson and his band preformed, they did a great show and we had front row seats. AWESOME....... the total tour was close to 3 hours, was suppose to be 2-2 1/2.

General Jackson paddle wheeler, a really fun cruise.

General Jackson Showboat paddles gracefully down the river, she has four decks to explore.

Downtown Nashville under the bridge

The Cumberland River we cruised down from Opryland to downtown Nashville and back.
Not sure what this is but guess it was just Nashville, art.... it drew all of our attention though.

JACK DANIEL'S DISTILLERY

A fairly new bronze statue made to put out side the one that use to stand out here was restored and put in the lobby.
The main entrance to the JACK DANIELS DISTRILLERY

Jacks old office with the safe that he kicked in a mad fit when it wouldn't open one morning. He got an infection in the toe and waited to long to have it cared for and lost his foot then his leg and his life from the infection.

We drove down to Lynchburg to go through the Jack Daniels Distillery, very pretty setting and FREE. The tour is about 1 1/2 hours, takes you through the whole process of making whiskey. The tour guide does give you a good smell of the finished product, it was so strong you were sure you had a taste. When the tour is over they serve lemonade to everyone. The County is dry, which means no liquor sold in the county, which is strange they have a huge whiskey distillery. No gift shop on site but the town is just a block away. The population of Lynchburg is 331. A charming town square surrounds the 100-year-old courthouse. A neat place to browse through a variety of unique shops, which we did. The weather was a cool 78 so was enjoyable. They have all kinds of Jack Daniels gifts etc, a tourist trap but cute, we enjoyed walking around and picked up some Christmas gifts. We visited with a man that has a laser engraver similar to Manuels, we picked each others brain and shared ideas, bought a bunch of stuff from his store.

This is the court house in Carthage, MO beautiful isn't it??? At Christmas time they light a candle in each window. How cool would that be?????

PRECIOUS MOMENTS
Precious Moments is in Carthage, Mo.
The Chapel at Precious Moments is lined with painting of the precious moments figures....the ceiling has little Precious moments figures flying around the clouds as angels. cool

This painting is really large and it represents the passed on children and family members, the little girl upfront with the black hair is his mom. He adds to this painting a little every year but has decided that it is now finished.

Fountain out front.

Just a few of the cool paintings, all of them are painted with precious moments figures and telling a Bible story.

NORTH RIM OF THE GRAND CANYON

This is the Angel Window, and yes I did make it out on it, but set down as the wind was blowing and you know me and heights..... Manuel went to the edge and looked over......................

I took this between two trees, want to paint it. Might someday who knows.

When we were in Hurricane, Utah we drove down to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, we have been to the South Rim four or five times but the North Rim is usually closed when we went. I was on the North Rim when I was a kid but didn't remember to much................. The North Rim is Spectaular.......... AWESOME........Very little tourist hype and turn beauty.

WELL IT WAS LATE HERE....................I made several typing errors.......... will do better next time around........ over look them and read what I meant not what I typed.... ha ha
we journed up to Metropolis, Illinois to the home of Superman.

Paducah, Kentucky has beautiful stone churches, court houses, and home.

This is the downtown in Paducah, old stores, antiques, brick sidewalks, lovely old town.

The town of Paducah, KY has a sea wall with murals painted on the town side of the murals, the murals are about the history of Paducah. The train is one of the many, I think about 45 of them. The Sea Wall was built after the 1937 flood, the river was 7 miles wide during that flood.....
We left Pontiac Missouri on the 19 and headed to Hardin, KY......

We took viola home and on the 31st of July we took off to Cloud Nine resort in Caulifield, MO. then on the 7th we went to a Corp of Engineers camp on Lake Bull Shoales Lake, Pontiac, MO.

We worked our way back to Sallisaw, Ok and spent a week around Manuel's mom then took her with us and went to Bears Den Resort in Grove, OK. While we were there we attended a Shadwick Family reunion in Neosho, MO
This is our new motor home for you guys that haven't seen it..... We are sure enjoying it is so much easier than the 5th wheel to travel with.

Well here it is 2009, we left home June 10, In our new (new to us) motorhome we went to Eastern Washington to vist with my sisters and their families. We went to the Gordon Reunion (my mothers family) and then my nephews in Selah for the Shadwick reunion. We moved around every week and got to enjoy each of the families. We left the Yakima Valley on July 2 and headed to Nevada, we spent the forth of July weekend in Wells Nevada at one of our Sunrise Resorts. We went out in the desert to a Ghost Town of Metropolis. A huge settlement was planned back in the early 1900, schools, motels, houses a whole town was built and then some man bought the water rights and that put an end to the town..........

2009 trip starts here..............................June 2009
