Fort in Elizabethton, TN

This is a Fort in Elizabethton, TN. this was the inside and the fort was used before 1776. Jason gave us a tour of the fort and explained how things worked inside and outside the fort. Such a treat to have such a History Buff as a tour guide.
Outside of Fort....... they have restored the inside, complete with beds, etc.

tabbacco plants....

Beds were made with rope on a wood frame, this is where the saying sleep tight came from. The bed was in the upstairs bedroom of the Carter mansion. The town of Elizabethton was named after Elizabeth Carter.

This orginal painting was found over the mantel of the Carter Mansion when they were stripping the paint and restoring the mansion. Cool.....
