Gem Mine, Hiddenite, North Carolina

Manuel and I went to the gem mine today, it was about 45 minutes from our camp. We made a haul, they told us what they were and that we got some good ones. This Picture is emeralds, amethysts, topaz and more....... I brought them home and cleaned them again and let them dry, can't wait to get them home and dig out the rock polisher. Besides the bigger ones we got we have a half a cup of little ones.
See that big Amethyst? love it, some big Emeralds too. We found some rubies and garnets but they were small. They told us that they would shine up really pretty. Hope they do but if they don't we still had fun....

topaz, quartz, sapphires, and Sillimanite.

Manuel and I getting ready for a new bucket......

This was the sluicing box, we were able to set and sluice. We paid $5 to get in and a free 2 1/2 gallon of vein material from the mine pits. Then we purchased other buckets.
